HipHopDX dropped the visuals for Lanes, one minute and fifty-three seconds of P.O.S wandering the streets in a bright yellow hazmat suit that is “his only defence against heartbreak,” according to DX. The Rhymesayer’s most politically minded and revolutionarily driven emcee stars in a video that was directed, shot, edited and produced by Mercie Mays and has P.O.S acting alongside internet model (and at one-point Stefon Alexander’s love interest) Kiana Elohn.
As told to HipHopDX, P.O.S “made this beat with a guitar and a drum machine,” which is what the essence of DIY underground hip-hop is all about.
It’s been four years since P.O.S released his fourth solo album, We Don’t Even Live Here, which was released only three days after P.O.S collapsed in his trailer after his Soundset performance near Minneapolis, when his chronic kidney disease that he’d lived with for 15 years, up to this point, had finally caught up to him, which required him to have an urgent kidney transplant that found the modest P.O.S reaching out to fans on YouTube to ask for help with covering the enormous bill attached to a surgery for a pre-existing health condition.
Lanes is from the Doomtree emcee’s long awaited 5th solo LP, Chill, dummy, that is scheduled to drop January 27th via Doomtree Records and Rhymesayers Entertainment.
